Call for Peer Reviewers: Join the JSBE Scholarly Community

2026-08-23

The Journal of Sustainable Basic Education (JSBE) invites qualified scholars, researchers, educators, school leaders, and education specialists to join its growing pool of peer reviewers.

Peer review plays a critical role in maintaining the quality, credibility, and integrity of scholarly publication. JSBE seeks reviewers who can provide authors with rigorous, objective, constructive, respectful, and evidence-based evaluations of submitted manuscripts.

Who May Serve as a Reviewer?

Prospective reviewers should possess appropriate academic preparation, research experience, professional expertise, or a demonstrated record of scholarship relevant to the journal's scope.

JSBE particularly welcomes reviewers with expertise in:

  • curriculum and instruction;
  • educational research methodology;
  • quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-methods research;
  • action research;
  • sustainable education;
  • inclusive education;
  • educational leadership;
  • teacher professional development;
  • assessment and learning outcomes;
  • digital learning and educational technology;
  • artificial intelligence in education;
  • literacy and numeracy;
  • learner well-being;
  • school-community engagement;
  • educational innovation; and
  • education policy.

A relevant graduate degree, research experience, publication record, demonstrated methodological expertise, or substantial professional expertise is preferred. Reviewer assignments will be matched, as far as practicable, with the reviewer's declared areas of expertise.

What JSBE Expects from Reviewers

Reviewers are expected to:

  • assess manuscripts objectively and independently;
  • evaluate scholarly contribution and methodological rigor;
  • examine alignment among the research problem, questions, methods, analysis, findings, and conclusions;
  • identify both strengths and substantive weaknesses;
  • provide specific and actionable recommendations;
  • observe confidentiality throughout the review process;
  • disclose actual, potential, or perceived competing interests;
  • respect research participants, authors, and fellow scholars; and
  • complete accepted review assignments within the prescribed period.

Reviews should critique the scholarship rather than the scholar. Personal, dismissive, discriminatory, or unsupported comments have no place in the JSBE peer-review process.

Reviewer Recognition

Reviewer contributions form an important part of the scholarly work of JSBE. The journal recognizes peer review as a professional and academic service that strengthens both individual manuscripts and the broader research culture of basic education.

Qualified reviewers may be invited to review future manuscripts based on their expertise, availability, quality of previous reviews, and adherence to JSBE's ethical and editorial standards.

Join the Reviewer Pool

Interested scholars and education professionals may register with the Journal of Sustainable Basic Education and provide accurate information regarding their institutional affiliation, academic qualifications, ORCID iD when available, research interests, and areas of reviewing expertise.

Registration in the reviewer pool does not automatically result in an assignment. Review invitations will be issued based on the subject matter of submitted manuscripts and the expertise required for an appropriate scholarly evaluation.

Help us build a peer-review community that values rigor without hostility, criticism without condescension, and scholarship that ultimately strengthens educational practice.
